Local Activities

Bwlchgwyn Lodge offers a wonderful, tranquil and relaxing place to enjoy the Welsh countryside, far away from the fast pace of town and city life. It is surrounded by the beautiful Welsh hills, overlooking the picturesque Wye Valley and a stone's-throw away from the stunning reservoirs and dams of the Elan Valley.

The town of Rhayader itself offers a number of quaint pubs, some of which offer live music,  incl. jam sessions. There are several restaurants, Cafés and takeaways, all offering excellent British, Welsh and international food.

You may want to just sit back, relax and take in the scenery. Or, you may want to take part in some of the  activities available in the area : golfing, walking, cycling, pony trekking, bird watching etc. You can also do something a bit out of the ordinary and watch the Red Kite feeding, which takes place daily or have a night time adventure, available on selected evenings, watching Badgers and other nocturnal creatures go about their busy lives at the nearby Red Kite Feeding Station.

Alongside providing accommodation, the farm is also developing a Centre for Animal Assisted Therapy, with alpacas, British miniature horses, rabbits, chickens, a little pigmy goat, a Kune Kune pig, a peacock, a peahen and most importantly three Irish Wolfhounds and a little Shih-Tzu.

Visitors' pets are welcome, but must be kept under control at all times.
